Tuesday Twins Again

I've been thinking about how some celebrities just aren't aging well at all. Here we have Keith Richards (on the right) whose resemblance to a Halloween ghoul is uncanny.

And then there's poor, sad Melanie Griffiths, who has managed to mangle her face in an effort to look younger.

Another one who I think is aging badly is Alec Baldwin (who should also win Bad Dad of the Year award). He used to be HOT. What happened?

And what about Tom Cruise? I loved him in Risky Business, even Top Gun. But have you seen his latest haircut? Not a good look. His fellow Scientologist, John Travolta, has blown up like dirigible.

I suppose it's not pleasant to have to grow older in front of the world. Still, they have a pretty good life, don't they, if their only worries are looking good in front of a camera.

And here's me, almost 48, mistaken for 32 by a drunken flirt at the weekend and feeling really good about it. Eat your heart out, celebrities.

heh heh heh. those pictures made me laugh.

and good for you, coffee, swingin' at the party.

i mentioned to one of my colleagues at work that i had just turned 51, and she said, "no way! you have such nice...skin."

skin? here i thought it was the whole damn package.

ah well. at 51 you take what you can get.

Laurie, from the pictures I've seen of you I would never take you for 51 either. Don't knock the nice skin compliment either. It matters a lot as we get older.

Awesome that you were thought to be 32. I should be so lucky.

I saw John Travolta in person once - fifteen years ago now. I had to look really closely to be sure it was him, and the only way I was absolutely sure was the presence of his wife. He was pasty and tubby and all I could think was that he must photograph really, really well.

Just goes to show, you don't have to be a celeb to look younger! Just look after your skin. I thought I was chuffed being thought 29 when I'm 39, but you've beaten me there!

You go girl! A compliment's a compliment, even if it staggers from the mouth of a drunkard.

And I've never really cared for Melanie Griffith's appearance. Sad that with all that plastic surgery, she still looks twice her age.

Love the pics.

No one ever guesses my age. The first time it happens, I'll probably faint dead away from shock!

And who cares if he was drunk. Drinking affects how pretty girls look, not their age, right? Ha!

Don't look a gift compliment in the mouth. No matter who it's from.

I agree and think Melanie Griffith is trying just a little too hard. Trying to hold on to the younger stud husband? The one she snagged away from his wife??

Payback is truly a bitch.

j.: John has just let himself go a bit too much, I think. Did he and his wife look like they were together together or just together for the cameras?

vi: I think it's a once-in-a-lifetime compliment. I DID have on a pretty spectacular dress.

Queeny: She's just pathetic, isn't she? Trying to look younger and instead looking like a freak.

RC: He always looks like he's completely enamored of her. Could it be an act?

Pixie: Aw, thanks, Pix. BTW I need to email you about something you said in the tarot reading.

Have you seen Alec Baldwin in a new American comedy called 30 Rock? He is fantastic as an egotistical maniac with some of the best one-liners I have heard in a long time. I quite liked him before but this is the role that brings out such a fantastic comedic side to him.

Bless those ageing celebs. Money can't buy you imortality.

good for you wakeup. I#'m sure you could pass for 20 if he'd been sober. Good on you!

Welcome, menopausaloldbag. I really like 30 Rock. I make myself stay up and watch it every Thursday. I loved Tina Fey in Mean Girls, which I made my daughter watch and she got the message totally wrong. Alec Baldwin's role seems tailormade for him.

flowerpot: If he were sober and blind as a bat, maybe.

I never saw or heard of Mean Girls - I will have to lookout for it as Tina Fey is so brilliant as a write, producer and actor. We have just gotten Sky plus so I record it now. I recorded three in a row and made my usband sit down and watch it - he's hooked now!
