Every Mother's Nightmare

This is what my lovely daughter looks like today. OK, I have my days too. BUT... OK, she's probably got PMS. BUT...

She nearly had me in tears tonight with a tirade about how I favour her brother over her. I am feeling a bit fragile, gentle readers. My mother is in the hospital, I discovered when I got home from taking Jake to his hospital. She has pneumonia apparently. So I am quite worried about her, as you might expect. Hubby called to say he's lost his debit card and could I check Sainsbury's to see if it's there. So I walked to Sainsbury's (I'd been in the car for hours already). Nope, and if it were it would have been shredded. I'm worried about Jake too. Apparently, he got through the operation OK. I'm waiting for a phone call from the surgeon. And Hubby had a job interview today.

So I need my gorgeous daughter to cut me some slack. She has not. I'd offered to take her shopping on Thursday but she declined. So I decided I'll go to the gym instead for some much-needed stress relief. Well, her plans changed so she expects me to change mine. I'm not changing my plans.

I laughed at her tirade but inside I was thinking "Shut the fuck up before I slap you."

Now, I must ask all you clever people how you manage to link back to previous posts with one colourful word in your text. Can you tell me how to do it? I'm not all that computer-literate, or blog-literate.

Can't help you with the link back (having a technical problem of my own actually) but I have to urge you to ignore your little princess and do what's best for you at the moment. She'll survive!

well, there you go....girl drama! lol i hope my girls don't work me like that when i'm frazzled to the bone. don't know what i'd do...probably smack em lol hope everything is well w jake and your mom. fingers crossed interview went well.

as for linking to the post, highlight the word you want to take people to another link. copy the link addy, then go to the little icons on top of your posting box that looks like earth w a chain link on top of it, click that and up will pop the link dialog box. delete the http://, paste link in its place, hit ok, and voila...now others can click the one word, phrase, whatever you decide, and be redirected to your other post or whatever other link you put there. hope that helps.

p.s. for copying the links-i usually use this with either two tabs or two browsers. if you want a new tab, which is much more convenient really, you can either click file, then new tab (i use firefox and that's how it is) or you can hold down the ctrl button and press the 't' key.

You are having a touch time. I do hope your mother makes a speedy recovery. Also hope the lost card doesn't cause too many problems! I have a real fear of loosing/ having cards stolen~ it's so much hassle having to cancel them!

I'm glad I no longer have to deal with teenage tantrums. I laughed (I'm cruel like that) when my daughter told me how my grand daughter had started having hissy fits~ now she knows what I had to deal with when she was that age!!

Have just read Ciara's explanation of how to link a blog-word, and still don't get it.

I am so thick, no wonder my blog's technically backward.

Will read those instructions again in the morning when hopefully, I'll be functioning better.

Don't worry about your daughter, you'll get your own back one day when you hit the menopause. PMT can't hold a candle to that hormone surge!

Sending speedy recovery vibes for your mother. I remember how hard it was for me when my father was so sick, a continent away.

Also sending hiring vibes for your hubby.

you're really not having a good time are you? Do hope things improve and Jake and your mum get better soon.

expatmum: Sage advice, thank you. And that's what I'm trying to do.

ciara: Thank you very much for the info. I'll go read the post and hopefully be able to do it.

chrisb: My mother does the same now, and I know I gave her a very hard time. What goes around comes around goes the saying. How true.

swearing mother: Guess what? I'm going through the menopause right now. Once I started the HRT, things got a lot easier.

j.: Thank you very much.

flowerpot: Me too. Jake will be home later today. I can't wait to see him.

Oh phew, others have explained the link thingy. Wow, you responded PDQ to my blog and thank you SO much for such a lovely comment. I think we need to start up the Order of the Black Dog....
My mum is in hospital too right now so I truly empathise - do hope yours is better soon (and that your daughter comes to her senses!). jxxx

exmoorjane: I was just thinking I hadn't visited you in a while, and there was your post. Life is not for wimps.

Forgot to say, EXACTLY my thoughts re Capricorns. What WAS all that crap about a fabulous year? How wrong can you be....

Is your daughter 16? Because mine started that exact line of hurt-talk about that age. I wonder if she knew, when she talks like that, that I really do like her sweet tempered, nice mannered brother better, she'd cut the crap.

exmoorjane: I haven't had such a challenging time since 1990-1991, when I split with first hubby and lost my job at the same time.

ciara: No, she's 13. I have at least three more years of this?

Man - I'm sure I put my parents through exactly the same thing.

Just keep chanting 'this too shall pass' - the mantra of parenthood, it seems.

Read pretty much all of your stuff, speedy recovery to all mentioned. As for the mention of menopausal.. it STINKS!! I have been there, hot sweats, temper swings , feeling homicidal, but to name a few.. hang in there, apparently it gets better, that or they're tellin fibs!!
