Monday Moaning

Well, I've been kicking around an idea for Monday posts for a while. Having been inspired by DJ's Wordless Wednesday and RC's Thursday Three, I decided to come up with Monday Moaning. The idea is that if you're going to have a bad day, it's probably going to be Monday, what with going back to work, school, etc. And if you just have a bit of a moan about whatever it is that gripes you, you can move on. I'm even going to attempt to come up with a button for it once I visit the site recommended by british national party (who I'm sure isn't a regular visitor). If anyone else has ideas for where and how to generate the button, I'm open to them.

So I'll get the ball rolling. Here's my Monday Moaning: I stupidly allowed my daughter to have a sleepover last night since she doesn't have school today. I warned her that her dad has to go to bed at 8 p.m. and get up at 2 a.m. to drive back to London, and the girls need to keep quiet. I then stupidly rented The Grudge for them all to watch, then had to watch it with them because they were screaming with fright. I then was awakened by them at 2 a.m. (after going in and telling them twice to keep it down). Now I'm bleary eyed, it's raining, hubby won't be back till Friday night (he usually comes home on Thursday). I have 7 girls to get breakfast for. Oh, and I finally made jam yesterday with the blackcurrants I picked and froze in July. It was taking so long to set that I thought I'd just check out some puppies on the internet and rang one woman about rough collies (Lassie dogs). Then I smelled something. The jam was burning! I still managed to get about 5 slightly burned-tasting jars but the bottom of my BRAND NEW AND NOT INEXPENSIVE jam pan is covered with industrial-strength burned blackcurrants. DAMN!!! And I teach Sunday School (don't laugh) on a rota basis. If someone can't make it, they arrange to swap with someone. I have filled in any number of times for people, but the one time I can't do my day, NO ONE was available to bail me out. I practically had to threaten to quit before someone would take my place.

There. That's my Monday Moaning, and I feel so much better. Your turn.

UPDATE: I won DJ Kirby's Wordless Wednesday last week. Hurrah! Here's my button:

I also received an award from RC, which you can see on the right. I'll post tomorrow about that.

So the idea is we moan to you and you vote the person with the best moan?

Okay, I'm moaning today cause I didn't get to bed till 2.30 this morning and up again at 7.30. I've got a hangover from drinking all day yesterday, and I'm fucking freaking out because Hunk told me on the phone he's found my blog and been reading it for months.

Moaning over

Yes, another coffee related blogg! With four kids we usually do not have many sleepovers! I was really tired this morning anyhow, my darling husband came home from a trip to Norway and we had to spend some quality time ;-)

The coffee this morning was strong!

Why is it that when people with a little bit of an edge about them teach Sunday school, others laugh? I teach Sunday school, too. People laugh. What better way to demonstrate that salvation is for everyone than to be the imperfect (not matchy-matchy, perfectly together, always perky) but always trying Sunday school teacher?

I could really get into Moaning Mondays. I am moaning today because my husband's work is really stressful right now - and will be for the next several months - and he's taking it out on me. Not really intentionally, but I'm convenient. I'm feeling emotionally bruised.

Oh, I LOVE this idea. You're right. Monday is when the shit tends to hit the fan.

So far all is calm here except for waking up to trash strewn all across my downstairs by some dog who isn't fessing up.

But, as we all know, it can change on a dime. And I hope yours does!

Hi Vi, i thought about making it a competition, but then decided our moans are all valid to ourselves, no matter how great or trivial. The button will probably say something like "I've had a Monday Moaning."

I read your post about Hunk. YIKES!! Damn inconsiderate of him. Wish I was hungover.

lady latte, welcome. I don't usually post about coffee, but today I sure needed some. Starbucks brand has the most caffeine, but I prefer to buy Fair Trade when possible (though some taste like pencil shavings). Oh, and it has to be filter coffee, especially in the morning. Instant just doesn't have enough kick.

j.: I tend to keep quiet about my Sunday School other life. Not many people I know over here go to church, and look on me as "churchy," which I'm not.

RC: Hmm, waking up to trash strewn everywhere would definitely make my Monday moaning list.

Get it off ya chest, woman! Great post for a Monday. I haven't had anything to moan about today really. I had lunch with 2 lovely blogging buddies and have had a thoroughly enjoyable day. It's time for bed soon so hopefully this won't be a 'tempting fate' comment!!

Loved the moan - its a great idea.

Here is one, mp3 players. Having a conversation with nearest and dearest, opening my heart and soul, leaving detailed instructions about the shopping only to have recipient of my well meaning words say, "Uh what, got my music on"

or preparing exam tape, preparing for clients all evening - kids moaning about food. Who has to squeeze cooking a meal into 40 frantic minutes while HE is on the running machine. Mmmm - Mondays will never be the same

OK, I'll play. My middle schooler has been in school for 3 weeks now and has forgotten homework 3 times, forgotten his clarinet once, lost two checks I sent in (on different days), and lost his entire science binder. His teacher replaced his binder and he forgot to bring it home to redo the work in it. So I signed him up for a special lunch with his teacher today so she could talk with him about how to be more organized.

And he forgot his history book today.

CJ: We'll have to get together sometime when you visit your mum. You tend to come on weekends, though, am I right? Perhaps in the school holidays as my weekends are taken up with dancing, football practices and matches, tennis, and golf.

Q: Love the moans. Did it make you feel better?

Oh, PM, hopefully the lunch with teacher will do the trick. That must be a new thing in American schools. Don't remember that when I was growing up. You could go around behind your son and pick up the pieces for him, but then he'd never learn, would he?
