You Know It's a Bad Night When.....

1. Frenemy is actually your best friend.
2. Your other friends are falling asleep in their soup and when they are awake can only complain about how stressful their week has been.
3. The restaurant is full of men, but not "quality" men. Rather, those that part their hair by their ears and comb it over.
4. The expected snow is actually hail.
5. One of your friends asks if you've had a hectic day because you look so tired. Actually, you've had a restful day and thought you looked pretty damn good.
6. Your big night out, which was planned a month ago and which you eagerly looked forward to, is a big pain out for everyone else but Frenemy.

Well, never again. Frenemy and I are the oldest in this group and the only ones capable of handling a night out anymore. Sadly, we feel the demise of the group coming on. Too many other friends and commitments taking over. That's a shame because it's a time in our lives when we need our friends more than ever, but that's life.

I laughed when I read this...but probably shouldn't have...it is the way you describe it, those men, bleugh!

Aw, so sorry. Sounds like a big disappointment. Those kinds of nights are bad enough, but when you've been looking forward to it and THEN have it bomb like that - that's the worst.

I was LOL at the combover men too.

If I am out on the town, it's usually with hubby. Even that is rare. I'm more of a stay at home kind of girl.

Ahh the comb over men! My husband vowed to NEVER be one. He has had a high forehead since forever and his hair has always been very curly and baby fine. Well, this summer he, along with my help, went to giving himself very short buzz cuts. Now that it is winter though, he grew his locks out to combat the chilly dome phenomena. However his hair is growing in straighter than before. I told him unless he goes back to the buzz cuts he may need to use the comb over on the crown of his head. He didn't like that one bit. I think the shaver will be coming out of the closet in early spring!

Time to move on...see this as another door opening. Better than caryring on this way.

I agree with expat; sometimes you have to cut old ties and start fresh. Sounds like too much drama in that circle.

Regard #5, given the friends you have, I wouldn't eliminate the possibility of that comment being an underminer thing and not an actual observation.

Oh no. Just when you needed cheering up, too....

DJ: Yeah, the men were disgusting. Not that I'm looking, but still it's nice to have some eye candy.

PM: Well, the weekend got much, much worse actually.

laurie: Yeah, it was a bad night, and one friend apologized the next day.

kaycie: There's a lot to be said for staying at home.

teresa: It really is hard for men, isn't it? I remember a professor I had who was a big fan of the combover look, but he looked ridiculous when it was windy outside.

debio: Which is worse?Combover Man or Egghead Man?

blueangel: No, I wasn't, but I guess others had a bad night too.

expatmum: It gave me a new perspective on Frenemy.

Queeny: But some of the best times I've had in my adult life have been with this group. When everyone is up, they can be so much fun.

-ann: No, it came from a woman who isn't normally part of the group and who wouldn't say things like that to be bitchy.

flowerpot: Yeah, well, like I said to PM, it did get worse.

kelly: I'll be round for a visit soon.
